Cangemi Company LLC is a boutique business advisory and media services firm, addressing strategic business issues and presentations, commentaries and seminars on business and governance issues. The firm has a significant focus on technology and recently continuous monitoring.

CanCo was founded by Michael P. Cangemi and Ignatius Cangemi in 1967, as a family business and investment company. In 1987 Michael began adding media projects, creating the MC Communications Division, which initially managed the entire production and publishing of the IS CONTROL Journal. Michael was Editor-in-Chief (1987-2007) and Maria D Cangemi served as Art Director (1087-1993).

Beginning in 2004 CanCo was expanded to add business advisory and a broader range of media services, addressing business issues, planning for strategic growth and addressing governance issues.

These services draw on Michael’s significant and eclectic experience as a CPA, in public practice for 14 years, in industry and with associations. He has held the positions of Chief Audit Executive (CAE), CIO, CFO, COO, President, CEO and Director. Director experience includes public, not-for profit- hospital and other, philanthropic and many years on professional association boards.

Cangemi Company Consulting
Consulting projects focus on, advising boards & management on strategies to address business issues, growth strategies, M&A, CFO activities, IT strategic planning and retail stores consulting. In the area of Governance and Sarbanes-OxleyConsulting, services include advising Boards & Management on Governance, Risk Management,  Continuous Controls Monitoring , Internal Audit Function Review – Start up or Tune-ups, Confirmations of Codes of Conduct, Information Technology Control Assessments and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards Reviews.

Clients: Oversight Systems, a privately owned footwear company, SOX Institute, Financial Executives International, GRC Group, Approva Corp.,  Dolce & Gabbana USA, Inc.; Ermenegildo Zegna Corp. and the IT Governance Institute.

Media Division – MC Communications
Media activities focus primarily on publishing, seminars and speaking engagements. Michael’s regular editorial columns include “Issues&Comments” published in the IS CONTROL Journal, which reached an average of 75000  readers in over 120 countries, six times a year and his column Presidents Page appeared in Financial Executive from 2007 to 2008.

Michael’s first book and video titled, “Auditing in an EDP Environment” was a success and was followed by his thriving book titled, “Managing the Audit Function”.  Originally published in 1993 by John Wiley & Sons it was followed by the 2nd Edition in 1996, the paperback Edition in 1999 and the recently published 3rd Edition in 2003.   In 2005 the Chinese translation was published by Tsing Hua University Press in China.

Media projects include speeches and seminars at conferences, company and association meetings.  Managing the Audit Function Leadership Symposium based on the popular book, was launched in 2005 and continues to be well received. Economic Forums andplans for a series of Financial Boot Camps round out our current offerings.

The company’s’ media business is supported by Maria Cangemi, a graduate of the Parsons School of Design, who serves as Art Director for the media division. Michael J. Cangemi, a television producer, contributes to the media division and Marc I. Cangemi CPA, a graduate of Villanova University, and a CPA is active in all aspects of the CanCo businesses – advisory and media, as well as, web and operations support.
